SureSmile® is a type of clear aligner, an orthodontic device that helps you align teeth without all the troubles associated with traditional braces.  

It consists of a series of customized aligners that exert pressure to align your bite. You’re supposed to switch them out every few weeks, and each new tray will work to shift your teeth into their right position.

Am I a Candidate for SureSmile®?

As long as you enjoy good oral health, you’re a great candidate for clear aligners. However, issues like cavities or gum disease must be treated before orthodontic treatment, as these issues can get worse over time.

How Long Does SureSmile® Treatment Take?

The typical course of treatment with aligners lasts six to eighteen months. However, depending on your condition and compliance with the prescribed treatment, the duration of your treatment might be longer.

Do I Need to Clean the Aligners?

Yes. You must clean your aligners every day to remove any plaque buildup. Soak your clear aligners for at least fifteen minutes using denture cleaners or the SureSmile® cleaning crystals.

After that, use a toothbrush to gently brush them to remove any food or plaque that is stuck to them. Rinse them and then put them back in your mouth.

Can You Eat While Wearing Your Clear Aligners?

No, eating while wearing your aligners is forbidden, as the materials aren’t strong enough to withstand your chewing forces. Every time you eat, you must remove the trays and clean your mouth thoroughly before placing them back.

Moreover, drinking anything besides water is discouraged, as it may stain your aligners or foster bacterial buildup.
